Good as always

I grabbed the Jetpack Backup service again for a new client site. It's just as solid as the last few times. Setup was quick, and I know it's reliable. Good to see that consistency, makes my work easier.

Easy to get started

Needed a simple site for my hobby and went with WordPress.com. It was super easy to pick a plan and get things rolling. I liked that it pretty much held my hand through the whole setup. Didn't have any issues, and my site was live in no time. Felt pretty good about it.

WooCommerce hosting experience

I signed up for Managed WordPress Hosting with WooCommerce support for my online store. The ordering process was straightforward on their site, no real hiccups there. Delivery wasn't physical, but the hosting was active pretty fast, within an hour or so. I had a question about setting up a custom domain and their support got back to me the next morning, which was decent. The site performance has been good, and WooCommerce runs smoothly. It's been up for a month now and I haven't had any downtime issues. Overall, it's a solid platform for e-commerce.

What's the deal with payments? Can I use PayPal for WordPress.com or is it just credit cards?

R Renee Torres 2 months ago
Pretty sure they take PayPal. I've used it before for my plan.

J James 2 months ago
Yeah, they're pretty flexible with payment options. I've seen PayPal, credit cards, all the usual suspects. Just check at checkout.

Just wondering if Automattic is like, a real company? I keep seeing it mentioned with WordPress but sometimes it feels a bit confusing who owns what.

I Ivy S. 2 months ago
Automattic IS WordPress.com, WooCommerce, and all those other big names. They're totally legit.

S Steve Torres 2 months ago
It's basically the company behind a lot of the internet. Think of them as the parent company for some really big web tools. Definitely real.

Hey, thinking about switching my blog over to WordPress.com from Squarespace. How easy is it to actually move everything over?

G Greg 2 months ago
Yeah, I did something similar a while back, moved from Wix. They have tools for it, it wasn't too bad but definitely needed some time to check everything afterwards.

It's pretty straightforward for basic content. They have guides on their site for migrating from other platforms. Just be ready to tweak some formatting on the new side, that's usually the biggest headache.

If I buy a WordPress.com plan, and then decide it's not for me, can I get my money back?

J James 3 months ago
Yeah, they have a money-back guarantee. Just make sure you check the timeframe, it's usually 30 days or something like that.

P Paula 3 months ago
I canceled a plan once and got a refund, it was pretty painless. Just follow their cancellation process and you should be good if it's within the window.

Thinking of moving from GoDaddy hosting to Automattic for my client sites. Is it easy to manage multiple sites under one account?

M Megan K. 3 months ago
They have tools specifically for agencies or people managing multiple sites. I'd look into their agency program.

R Renee Kaur 3 months ago
Yeah, they've got features designed for managing client sites. It's a big part of what they do, so it should be smoother than trying to juggle individual logins everywhere.

Anyone know if I can get a discount on a new WordPress.com plan if I'm a student? Other places offer them, so just curious.

P Phil S. 2 months ago
I think they do actually! Check their site, I vaguely remember seeing something about student pricing.

Yeah, I got a student discount last year. It's usually for the first year though, so keep that in mind when it comes up for renewal.

If I get a Jetpack bundle, can I stack a coupon code on top of that for an even better deal?

A Alex Whitfield 2 months ago
Nah, usually coupons are for new subscriptions only and you can't stack 'em. It's one or the other most of the time.
1
O Omar 2 months ago
I tried that once, didn't work. The bundle is usually already a good deal, so coupons typically don't apply on top of existing offers.

Trying to set up an online store with WooCommerce. Are there any sales usually on the extensions, like for subscriptions or bookings?

A Alex 2 months ago
Oh for sure! They have sales pretty often, especially around Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Keep an eye out then.

I grabbed a couple extensions during a spring sale last year. They don't happen constantly but definitely watch for seasonal events.
